NWPA Urges End To Media Campaigns Against AGF Madein

The NWPA has called for an immediate stop to what it described as malicious media campaigns targeting the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein. The group made this call during a press interaction in Abuja.

NWPA spokesperson Mrs. Christine Ezekwe condemned alleged attempts to remove Madein before her tenure ended in March 2025. She described the efforts as a "baseless witch-hunt" aimed at destabilizing her office.

Ezekwe commended President Tinubu for his decision to support Madein’s tenure, noting that it underscores his commitment to professionalism and continuity. "This is a testament to his statesmanship," she remarked.

The group also addressed claims of Madein’s refusal to proceed on terminal leave, explaining that such leave is optional. Ezekwe added that allegations against the AGF regarding the transfer of Mr. Ogunjimi are unfounded.

In the words of  Mrs Ezekwe , “when has routine posting become a crime that posting A Director to a strategic institute where public servants are trained,  molded into professional bureaucrats  became a witch hunt? We are very sure that  Mr Shamselden Babatunde Ogunjimi was giving an assigned responsibility to impact on the system, groom civil servants for effective service delivery and contribute his quota to the development of the country ”

“Claiming that the accountant General did not proceed on terminal leave is a desperation whose purpose time and season would uncover.  we are all here a few months ago when our beloved sister and the immediate past Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Yemi-Esan stayed in the office peacefully until her retirement date. Why did this group of desperadoes not sponsor media reports then?”

“With three months to the retirement of Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein as Accountant General of the Federation those longing to occupy her position as their life time dreams should show a strong sense of maturity by waiting patiently for her to exit before they can takeover the position, if appointed ”

The group appealed to the Accountant General to remember she is an ambassador of the Nigerian woman and go about her duty passionately to actualise the dreams of President Bola Tinubu’s promise to give renewed hope to Nigerians in line with his renewed agenda.

NWPA urged detractors to respect Madein’s service and allow her to conclude her tenure peacefully, highlighting her contributions to fiscal management and national development.
